A worse relation between prediabetes and alcohol
Drinking alcohol brings about many risks and problems to health. The risk of getting prediabetes or type 2 diabetes is one of the major risks. The blood sugar or glucose level in the general people is increasing catastrophically in the USA because of increasing the amount of overweight people. On the other hand, the drinking of alcohol is also rising day by day. All classes and ages people now drink alcohol. Someone drinks less and someone drinks more. - Drinking lot of alcohol causes chronic pancreatitis. And prediabetes or diabetes comes as the side effect of chronic pancreatitis. It is more in men.
- There is lot of calories in alcohol. One beer can contain the same amount of calories as a slice of pizza contains. And, we all know that excessive amount of alcohol leads us to overweight. Finally, overweight causes prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.
How much alcohol is moderate or safe?
As the American Diabetes Association, “Ideal amount of alcohol differs from men to women. In men, two drinks of alcohol a day are considered wise. In women, one drink of alcohol is considered moderate amount.”
Many doctors say this amount of alcohol helps to control blood sugar level and reduces the risk of diabetes from prediabetes. But, you must maintain prediabetes healthy diet and exercise regularly.
How much alcohol is dangerous for prediabetes or type 2 diabetes?
The person, who drinks more amount of alcohol than the moderate amount, his pancreas is damaged or hampered. Pancreas is mainly responsible to produce insulin naturally or maintain the blood sugar level at normal level. So, if you drink lot of alcohol, you have more risks to face prediabetes.
